Abstract

A pilot pecan pest management program, utilizing systematic monitoring of pest populations (scouting, trapping) and standardized treatment levels, was initiated in Georgia in 1977. The still evolving program included 3000 acres in five counties in 1980. The integrated program has improved the overall production practices of participating growers and has particularly improved the timing and efficacy of early-season foliar insecticide applications aimed at “yellow aphids”, Monellia caryella (Fitch) and Monelliopsis nigropunctata (Granovsky).
