The leafmining genus HylaeogenaObenberger, 1923, as currently recognized, is considered to consist of two subgenera, Hylaeogena s. str. and HedwigiellaObenberger, 1941. Examination of types detected substantial, consistent differences among three different sets of species. I propose that Hylaeogena be split into three genera: Hylaeogena, Hedwigiella,new status, and Euhylaeogena Hespenheide, new genus, with Euhylaeogena byattae Hespenheide, newspecies, as the type species of Euhylaeogena. Surprisingly, most species belong to the undescribed genus, and only three species are recognized in each of Hylaeogena and Hedwigiella, with Hylaeogena bellamyi Hespenheide, newspecies,Hedwigiella cbellamyi Hespenheide, new species, and Euhylaeogena clbellamyi Hespenheide, new species, described as new. Hedwigiella laticeps (Waterhouse, 1889) is treated as a new combination. The following species are included in Euhylaeogena: Euhylaeogena affinis (Obenberger, 1923), new combination,Euhylaeogena alibertiae (Fisher, 1930), new combination,Euhylaeogena astraea (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena atroviridis (Fisher, 1922), new combination,Euhylaeogena centralis (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena cincta (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena coelicolor (Obenberger, 1925), new combination,Euhylaeogena compacta (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena constans (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena discoidalis (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena festiva (Fisher, 1922), new combination,Euhylaeogena gratiosula (Obenberger, 1925), new combination,Euhylaeogena grouvellei (Théry, 1934), new combination,Euhylaeogena hydroporoides (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena kirschi (Obenberger, 1925), new combination,Euhylaeogena lecerfi (Obenberger, 1932), new combination,Euhylaeogena modesta (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena ovalis (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination,Euhylaeogena pilosa (Fisher, 1922), new combination,Euhylaeogena rotundipennis (Fisher, 1922), new combination, and Euhylaeogena thoracica (Waterhouse, 1889), new combination.
Two new species,Chrysobothris chuckbellamyi Westcott and Chrysobothris romeroi Westcott, from southern Mexico are described and figured. Distribution and host records are provided for Chrysobothris acaciae Knull, Chrysobothrisbasalis LeConte, Chrysobothris lucana Horn, Chrysobothris paratabalipa Nelson, and Chrysobothris schaefferi Obenberger in Mexico.
Acmaeodera (Acmaeodera) bellamyola Volkovitsh, new species, from Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, China, is described, illustrated, and compared with its congeners from the eastern Palaearctic and Oriental regions.
Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) bellamyorum Bílý, new species, from Kenya, belonging to the Anthaxia kheiliana species-group, is described, illustrated, and compared with the most similar congeners. New distributional and bionomical data concerning the species-group are given.
Sphenoptera (Chrysoblemma) bellamyi Kalashian, new species, is described from Armenia, illustrated, and compared with Sphenoptera (Chrysoblemma) amoena Jakovlev, 1901 and Sphenoptera (Chrysoblemma) jakowlewi Reitter, 1895.
KheiliellaObenberger, 1940 (replacement for KheiliaObenberger, 1926, preoccupied name) is validated as a subgenus of Ectinogonia Spinola, 1837, new status.Ectinogonia (Kheiliella) bellamyi Moore and Diéguez, new species, is described from Peru.
Acmaeodera chuckbellamyi MacRae, new species, is described from Arizona in the southwestern USA. The species is described, photographs of the unique holotype and the habitat near the type locality are presented, and comparisons are made to related species.
The 167 species and subspecies of Buprestidae known to occur in Honduras are listed. Each species name is annotated with departmental records based on literature records and specimens. Six species are known only from Honduras, and 75 species and two subspecies represent new country records. Most species records come from the departments of Atlántida, Comayagua, El Paraíso, Francisco Morazán, Olancho, and Yoro.
The species of Bruchidae associated with seeds of Pavonia Cav. (Malvaceae) are treated here, including Acanthoscelides bellamyi Romero, new species, which feeds on seeds of Pavonia chlorantha (Kunth) Fryxell. Notes are provided for Acanthoscelides elevatus (Sharp), Acanthoscelides machiques Johnson, and Acanthoscelides pavoniestes Johnson. A key is included to aid in identifying the species of Bruchidae associated with the genus Pavonia.
Cymatodera bellamyi Rifkind, new species, is described from Oaxaca, Mexico and compared to similar congeners. Our knowledge of the Mexican components of the genus is summarized.
The genus Parapelonides Barr consists of five species: Parapelonides beckeri Barr, Parapelonides bellamyi Opitz, new species,Parapelonides chamelae Barr; Parapelonides nigrescens (Schaeffer), and Parapelonides penrosei Barr. Morphological evidence suggests that the sister genus of Parapelonides is Pelonides Kuwert. Included in this work are a generic description of Parapelonides, description of one new species, a key to species, 15 line drawings, eight scanning electron micrographs, one species distribution map, three color photos of male genitalia, five color habitus illustrations, and a discussion of the diversification of the species.
Psilodon buhrnheimi Grossi and Aguiar, new species, is described from Amazonas, Brazil, becoming the third genus of Lucanidae found in this region. The new species is illustrated and compared with the other two Brazilian species of Psilodon Perty from Piauí and Bahia, both in northeastern Brazil. A distributional map of the known species of Lucanidae of the Amazonian region and a key to the stag beetle genera in the region are also presented, as well as biological data for Psilodon and a key to the known species of the genus. The male genitalia is described and illustrated for the first time for a Brazilian species, and comments are made about the correct identity of Psilodon schuberti Perty, 1830.
Proculus reyescastilloi Delgado and Mora-Aguilar, new species, from the cloud forest of the region of Chimalapas, Oaxaca, Mexico is described and illustrated. A key to identify the seven known species of this genus is included.
The Oriental seed beetle, Kingsolverius malaccanus (Pic, 1913), the only known species of Kingsolverius Borowiec, is a new country record for China. We redescribe the species, describe its female genitalia, and provide a key to the genera of Bruchini cun'ently known from China.
Piscoperus paracanicola Ratcliffe and Giraldo, a new genus and new species of pentodontine scarab from Peru, is described and illustrated. A revised key to the 29 genera of New World Pentodontini is provided.
Leptochromus laselva Lord, Carlton, and Leschen, new species, from Costa Rica is described. Collecting techniques and natural history data are given. Among the five currently described species, this species is most similar to Leptochromus agilis (Sharp), but possesses a much longer postgenal process and differs in the shapes of the aedeagal parameres and median lobe. An amended key is presented to accommodate L. laselva.
The 17 species of Bembidiina (Carabidae: Bembidiini) known to occur in the Amanos Mountains of Turkey, an important biodiversity hotspot, were studied for the first time. These taxa were previously recorded from other parts of Turkey; however, all of them are recorded from the Amanos Mountains for the first time. Notes for each species summarize body length, material examined, published records from Turkey, geographical distribution, and ecological information. An analysis of the species' choro types is discussed.
Sphenoraia chujoi Lee, new species, is described. Sphenoraia rutilans (Hope) and Sphenoraia micans (Fairmaire) are redescribed and type specimens of both species and their synonyms were examined. Important diagnostic characters, including color patterns, antenna, and male and female reproductive organs, are illustrated in detail.
