Wei, B.; Guo, X., and Wang, Z., 2020. PPP mode and regional economic development – empirical evidence from coastal areas of China. In: Li, L. and Huang, X. (eds.), Sustainable Development in Coastal Regions: A Perspective of Environment, Economy, and Technology. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 112, pp. 262-268. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.
Based on China's provincial data from 2000 to 2017, this paper investigates the role of infrastructure investment under PPP mode in promoting coastal and inland economic development. The study finds that the PPP mode can significantly promote China's economic growth by breaking down administrative monopolies, improving resource mismatches and increasing total factor productivity. What's more, we find that the impact of the PPP mode on regional economic growth has a significant inverted U-shaped characteristic by using threshold model. Compared with inland regions, PPP mode can no longer significantly promote economic growth of coastal areas. The discrepancy is due to differences in regional infrastructure capital stock, local leading industries, and the degree of regional marketization. This research offers theoretical reference to the local governments which plan to introduce PPP mode, and also provides enlightenment on how to develop the economy under the “New Normal”.
Chen, B. and Guo, X., 2020. Public-private partnership and transport infrastructure investment efficiency: Evidence from countries along the 21st-century maritime silk road. In: Li, L. and Huang, X. (eds.), Sustainable Development in Coastal Regions: A Perspective of Environment, Economy, and Technology. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 112, pp. 269-274. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.
The 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative blazes a new path for countries to cooperate for mutual benefits, and transport infrastructure has become the main battlefield for investment. With data from 2000 to 2017, the research adopts Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) to evaluate transport infrastructure investment efficiency of 20 countries along the route. The results show that the average investment efficiency is 0.552 which is in the state of inefficiency, exposing the problems of efficiency loss and resource waste, but still, a yearly increasing trend is evident. The investment efficiency of the developed countries is notably higher, revealing remarkable regional discrepancy and imbalance of development. The research also reveals the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and the Initiative's positive effect on investment efficiency by empirical examinations. PPP has helped improve investment efficiency overall but PPP in different transport sectors has heterogeneous effect that road and port PPP can significantly promote investment efficiency. The Initiative has also boosted investment efficiency along the route, especially for developing countries. All this proves the superiority and necessity of PPP and the far-reaching significance of this valuable initiative for the sustainable development of all countries.

(eds.), Sustainable Development in Coastal Regions: A Perspective of Environment, Economy, and Technology. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 112, pp. 285-290. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.
In view of the relatively lagging problem in the development of China's sea transport services export, few studies have analyzed it from the perspective of improving the regional structure. This paper uses the panel data of the WTO from 2010 to 2017, and based on the extended gravity model, conducts an empirical study on the export potential of China's bilateral sea transport services. The main conclusions are as follows. First, GDP and economic freedom of both import and export parties, the physical distance, whether they have a common language, and whether there is a colonial connection will have a significant impact on the export of bilateral sea transport services. In addition to the physical distance, other variables all have a positive effect on the export of sea transport services. Second, from 2010 to 2017, China's sea transport services export to Denmark, Hong Kong, France and Germany were basically “over-traded”, while the export to 4 small markets including Slovakia, Slovenia, Russia and the Czech Republic were severely “under-trade”, only realized less than 40% of export potential.

At present, the brand design of marine tourism products does not have the characteristics of color bionics, and the visual information of the key target of packaging is not prominent, which leads to low interest of tourists in the products and poor sales of coastal eco-tourism products. Brand design method of coastal eco-tourism products based on cultural creativity is proposed. It designs the external functions of brand and combines with augmented reality technology to achieve the unity of packaging and virtual presentation. Color bionic feature extraction algorithm is used to enhance the visual effect of product packaging by block feature matching and other steps. By selecting the key frame image, the homography matrix between the current image frame and the key frame is calculated to obtain the absolute pose information of the current frame relative to the real world, so as to ensure the accurate matching between the real and the virtual. Finally, the experimental results show that the design effect of the proposed method achieves the purpose of the design scheme, which can significantly improve product sales.

By introducing field theory, this paper studies the initial cooperation mechanism of shipping SMEs under the condition of low cost and cooperative information during the process of trade creation in the belt and road. According to the characteristics of coastal enterprises, the trust between enterprises, the profit and the ability to complete tasks form the quality of the attraction in the cooperative field, and the willingness of cooperative enterprises to achieve cooperation, increase partners' profits and complete tasks constitute the distance between enterprises in the cooperative field. Based on this scenes, the cooperation network model is established and the partner selection model is deduced. Finally, verified above models by computer simulation. It is believed that the willingness of high-quality enterprises to cooperate actively, product innovation and broader support for SMEs are the keys to promote the initial cooperation of shipping SMEs.

With the strengthening of economic globalization, the volume of international maritime industry trade is increasing, but the development of coastal logistics industrial parks and the quality of cooperation between logistics companies have exposed many problems. The paper establishes an evolutionary game model. The model covers major factors such as operating costs, transaction costs, default costs, overall revenue and distribution ratios of both parties. During the numerical simulation, in response to changes in some main parameters, we give the results of the cooperation between the two parties, which provided a reference for further research.
