Es werden die Ergebnisse der ersten systematischen Erfassung der Moose in der Naturwaldzelle Zweibach (Erzgebirge, Sachsen, Deutschland) vorgestellt. Das Monitoring findet in der unbewirtschafteten Naturwaldzelle (30,5 ha) und in benachbarten, bewirtschafteten Referenzflächen (70,8 ha) statt. Es besteht aus einer Aufnahme der Moosschicht (Humus/Mineralboden) an systematisch verteilten Probekreisen sowie einer Gesamtkartierung des Gebietes (alle Substrate). Mit insgesamt 180 Arten konnte eine sehr reiche Moosflora festgestellt werden, darunter zahlreiche gefährdete Arten. Dies ist durch die Heterogenität des Gebietes mit Vorkommen von unterschiedlichen Bestandestypen (naturnahe Buchenbestände, Fichtenbestände), von Felsbereichen, Blöcken, Quellstandorten und Bächen bedingt. Während die Moosschicht auf dem Waldboden in den Buchenbeständen nur spärlich entwickelt war, wies sie in den Fichtenbeständen eine höhere Deckung und Artenzahl auf. In Bezug auf die Substrate Totholz und insbesondere Rinde waren die Relationen dagegen umgekehrt, so dass in der Bilanz für die Buchenbestände eine deutlich höhere Gesamtdiversität der Moosflora festgestellt werden konnte. Sowohl in der Naturwaldzelle als auch in der bewirtschafteten Referenzfläche wurden überwiegend typische Waldarten gefunden, der Anteil von Arten mit Verbreitungsschwerpunkt im Offenland war gering. Hinsichtlich der beiden Bewirtschaftungskategorien ließen sich tendenzielle Unterschiede bei den ökologischen Zeigerwerten erkennen, insbesondere bei den Lichtzahlen.

Baumann, M. 2022. Systematic investigation of the bryophyte flora as a basis for monitoring in the strict nature reserve Naturwaldzelle Zweibach and in managed reference sites in the Ore Mountains (Saxony). – Herzogia 35: 395 – 419.

The results of the first systematic bryophyte species survey in the strict forest reserve Naturwaldzelle Zweibach (Ore Mountains, Saxony federal state, Germany) are presented. Species inventories were done in the unmanaged strict forest reserve (30.5 ha) and managed reference sites in the immediate vicinity (70.8 ha). The study included a survey of ground-dwelling bryophytes (humus/mineral soil) in systematically distributed permanent sample plots as well as an overall mapping of the area, including all substrates. With a total of 180 species, a very rich bryophyte flora was encountered, including numerous endangered species. This is due to the heterogeneity of the area with occurrences of different types of forest communities (near-natural beech forest, spruce plantation), rock outcrops, large boulders, springs and forest brooks. While the bryophyte layer on the forest floor was only sparsely developed in the beech stands, it had a higher cover and number of species below spruce. In the substrates deadwood and especially tree bark, however, the ratios were reversed, where species diversity was significantly higher in beech stands. Both in the strict forest reserve and in the managed reference area, mainly typical forest bryophytes were found, the proportion of species preferring open land conditions was low. With regard to the two management categories, there was a tendency to different indicator values, particularly for lower light conditions in the strict forest reserve.

A total of 14 species of bryophytes are added to the flora of Singapore. These include five liverworts, namely Cephaloziella inaequalis R.M.Schust. (Cephaloziellaceae), Colura cristata Jovet-Ast (Lejeuneaceae), Mizutania riccardioides Furuki & Z.Iwats. (Calypogeiaceae), Radula loriana Castle (Radulaceae), and Riccia fluitans L. (Ricciaceae), eight mosses, namely Calymperes fasciculatum Dozy & Molk. (Calymperaceae), Calymperes pallidum Mitt. (Calymperaceae), Calymperes subintegrum Broth. (Calymperaceae), Chionoloma induratum Dixon (Pottiaceae), Fissidens holleanus Dozy & Molk. (Fissidentaceae), Pogonatum piliferum (Dozy & Molk.) Touw (Polytrichaceae), Splachnobryum obtusum (Brid.) Müll.Hal. (Pottiaceae), Racopilum cuspidigerum (Schwägr.) Ångstr. (Racopilaceae), and a hornwort, Notothylas breutelii (Gottsche) Gottsche (Notothyladaceae). Cephaloziella, Mizutania, Pogonatum and Racopilum are new genera reported for the country as well as Polytrichaceae and Racopilaceae are new families. Pogonatum piliferum also represents the first and only member of the class Polytrichopsida for Singapore. Descriptions, notes on distribution and ecology are provided for all species. Illustrations are presented for seven species.

Epiphyte surveys are often limited to the lower trunk sections of the host trees. This largely overlooks species that occur preferentially in tree crowns. Considering the vertical distribution patterns of epiphytic mosses and lichens in alluvial hardwood forests, such surveys would be incomplete and their results would differ from whole-tree surveys. This would be particularly critical with respect to surveys of the overall species diversity of such forest stands, assessments of their worthiness for protection, and for bioindication (e.g., the influence of climate change). In the present study, performed in the largest protected complex of alluvial forests in central Germany, we examined 20 sample trees wind-thrown and broken in recent storm events. Here epiphyte communities were recorded section-wise from the trunk base to the outer tree crown. 75 % of the epiphytic lichens were confined to the crown and upper trunk parts, while 30 % of the bryophyte taxa were restricted to the tree crowns and another 30 % were found only on the lower trunk and the trunk base. For both lichens and bryophytes, species of conservation concern were observed only in the tree crowns, as were most indicator species for climate warming. Using Ellenberg indicator values, we also found significant differences in moisture and light conditions, substrate reaction, continentality, and nutrient supply across the different tree sections. Thus, whole-tree samplings for bryophytes and lichens, especially in alluvial hardwood forests, yield much more accurate and sophisticated results about epiphyte diversity and ecological conditions than conventional lower-trunk surveys.

Epiphytenerfassungen beschränken sich häufig auf die unteren Stammabschnitte der Trägerbäume. Hierbei werden Arten, die vorzugsweise in Baumkronen vorkommen, weitgehend übersehen. Unter Berücksichtigung der vertikalen Verteilungsmuster epiphytischer Moose und Flechten in Hartholzauenwäldern wären solche Erhebungen unvollständig und ihre Ergebnisse unterschieden sich von Erfassungen ganzer Bäume. Das wäre besonders kritisch im Hinblick auf die Erfassungen der Gesamtartendiversität solcher Waldbestände, die Einschätzung ihrer Schutzwürdigkeit sowie für die Bioindikation (z. B. den Einfluss des Klimawandels). Im größten Komplex geschützter Auenwälder in Mitteldeutschland untersuchten wir 20 bei Stürmen geworfene und gebrochene Bäume. Hierbei wurden die Epiphyten abschnittsweise von der Stammbasis bis in die äußere Krone erfasst. 75 % der Flechtenarten waren auf die Krone und den oberen Stamm beschränkt, während 30 % der Moosarten nur im Kronenbereich gefunden wurden, und weitere 30 % nur im unteren Stammbereich sowie der Stammbasis vorkamen. Sowohl bei Moosen als auch bei Flechten wurden schutzbedürftige Arten nur in den Kronen gefunden, wie auch die meisten Indikatorarten für Klima-Erwärmung. Unter Verwendung von Ellenberg-Zeigerwerten fanden wir weiterhin signifikante Unterschiede in den Feuchteund Lichtverhältnissen, Substratreaktion, Kontinentalität und Nährstoffversorgung über die verschiedenen Baum-Abschnitte. Die vollständige Erfassung epiphytischer Flechten und Moose auf Auenwaldbäumen führt daher zu weitaus differenzierteren Ergebnissen als konventionelle Erhebungen in den unteren Stammabschnitten von Bäumen.

Es wurden Belege der Gattung Acarospora sowie von Lecanora hybocarpa, L. sinuosa und Ramalina baltica aus dem einstigen Privatherbarium von Ludwig Meinunger revidiert. Die hier publizierten Belege von Acarospora intermedia sind die ersten Nachweise für das Mecklenburgische Rückland (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), Main-Tauber-Gebiet (Bayern) und Vogtland (Thüringen). Die Vorkommen von Acarospora gallica, A. rugulosa und Lecanora sinuosa in Thüringen wurden bestätigt. Lecanora hybocarpa ist von der thüringischen Checkliste zu streichen. Acarospora nitrophila und Ramalina baltica werden in Thüringen als zweifelhaft eingestuft.

Specimens of the genus Acarospora as well as of Lecanora hybocarpa, L. sinuosa and Ramalina baltica from the former private herbarium of Ludwig Meinunger were revised. The here published specimens of Acarospora intermedia are the first records for the German landscape units Mecklenburgisches Rückland (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), Main-Tauber-Gebiet (Bavaria) und Vogtland (Thuringia). The occurrences of Acarospora gallica, A. rugulosa and Lecanora sinuosa in Thuringia were confirmed. Lecanora hybocarpa is to be deleted from the Thuringian checklist. Acarospora nitrophila and Ramalina baltica are classified as doubtful in Thuringia.

Acarospora schorica is the oldest name for Trimmatothelopsis sphaerosperma and has priority. The new combination Trimmatothelopsis schorica is proposed. The species is recognized as occurring in Asia, Europe, and North America. Phylogenetic analysis of sequence data verifies its placement in the genus Trimmatothelopsis.

New and noteworthy records from lichenological fieldwork conducted in 2020 in the southeastern part of the Kaliningrad region (former Ostpreußen) are presented, mainly from Vishtynetsky Nature Park. Altogether 33 species are new to the Kaliningrad region, including Zwackhia sorediifera new to Russia. Lecidella subviridis is new to European Russia outside of the Caucasus. Twelve species, which are rare or protected in the region, are also treated. Most lichen species, also rare and threatened ones, were reported in old-growth broadleaved, mixed spruce-broadleaved, and black alder forests, as well as old-growth broadleaved alleys. In Vishtynetsky Nature Park, pine forests and bogs are also rich in lichens, including rare species and taxa which in neighbouring countries are classified as associated with forests of high conservation value. Protected sites play an important role in maintaining the natural habitats and the biodiversity of the Kaliningrad region, however, many valuable forests are still threatened by logging and deserve protection.

Es werden Ergebnisse lichenologischer Feldarbeiten vorgestellt, die im Jahr 2020 im Südosten der Region Kaliningrad (ehemaliges Ostpreußen) durchgeführt wurden, hauptsächlich im Naturpark Wischtynezki. Insgesamt 33 Arten werden zum ersten Mal für das Gebiet Kaliningrad gemeldet, darunter Zwackhia sorediifera neu für Russland. Lecidella subviridis ist neu für den europäischen Teil des europäischen Russlands außerhalb des Kaukasus. Zwölf weitere Arten werden behandelt, die in der Region selten, geschützt, oder Indikatoren für biologisch wertvolle Wälder sind. Die artenreichsten und für Flechten wertvollsten Habitate in der Region sind alte Laubwälder, gemischte Fichten-Laubwälder und Schwarzerlenwälder sowie die alten Laubbaumalleen. Im Naturpark Wischtynezki sind auch die Kiefernwälder und Moore reich an Flechten, einschließlich seltener und in den Nachbarländern als Indikatoren von „Wäldern von hohem biologischem Wert” angesehener Arten. Naturschutzgebiete spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erhaltung des natürlichen Lebensraums und der biologischen Vielfalt des Kaliningrader Gebiets, aber viele wertvolle Wälder sind nach wie vor von Abholzung bedroht und benötigen Schutz.

Records of fifteen species of lichenized and ten species of lichenicolous fungi are presented. Lecanora substerilis, Rufoplaca subpallida, Sarcogyne praetermissa and Verrucaria fuscoatroides are reported as new for Russia. Didymocyrtis epiphyscia s. lat., Epithamnolia longicladoniae, Lecanora barkmaniana and Sclerococcum epicladonia are new for the European part of Russia, and Arthonia phaeophysciae, Bacidina mendax, Cladonia novochlorophaea, Gyalecta carneola, Lichenoconium aeruginosum and Verrucaria pilosoides are new for central European Russia. A further nine species (Cliostomum corrugatum, Gyalecta derivata, Lichenoconium lecanorae, Micarea soralifera, Physciella chloantha, Taeniolella phaeophysciae, Talpapellis beschiana, Telogalla olivieri, Verrucaria ochrostoma) were rarely observed in central European Russia previously. Short notes on the characters and the geographic distribution of the species are provided.

Funde von fünfzehn Arten lichenisierter und zehn lichenicoler Pilzen werden aufgeführt. Lecanora substerilis, Rufoplaca subpallida, Sarcogyne praetermissa und Verrucaria fuscoatroides werden erstmals für Russland nachgewiesen. Didymocyrtis epiphyscia s. lat., Epithamnolia longicladoniae, Lecanora barkmaniana und Sclerococcum epicladonia sind neu für den europäischen Teil Russlands. Arthonia phaeophysciae, Bacidina mendax, Cladonia novochlorophaea, Gyalecta carneola, Lichenoconium aeruginosum und Verrucaria pilosoides sind neu für den mittleren Teil des europäischen Russlands. Weitere neun Arten (Cliostomum corrugatum, Gyalecta derivata, Lichenoconium lecanorae, Micarea soralifera, Physciella chloantha, Taeniolella phaeophysciae, Talpapellis beschiana, Telogalla olivieri, Verrucaria ochrostoma) wurden bisher äußerst selten beobachtet. Auf ihre kennzeichnenden Merkmale und ihre Verbreitung wird kurz eingegangen.

Burgaz, A. R., Márquez, R. & Pino-Bodas, R. 2022. The Cladoniaceae (Lecanorales, Ascomycota) from Bulgaria. – Herzogia 35: 510 –540.

A study of the Cladoniaceae has been carried out in Bulgaria, based on new collections from 61 different localities. Thirty five species were found (34 Cladonia and 1 Pycnothelia species), seven of which are new records to Bulgaria, Cladonia asahinae, C. conista, C. cyathomorpha, C. diversa, C. magyarica, C. novochlorophaea and C. peziziformis. As a result of this study the total number of Bulgarian Cladoniaceae species rises to 55, belonging to two genera, Cladonia and Pycnothelia. Our study provided a more comprehensive distribution range and chemical variation for each species in Bulgaria. A new chemotype is described for C. rangiformis, containing atranorin, fumarprotocetraric, psoromic, rangiformic and norrangiformic acids. This one is rarer than the other chemotypes of the species. Phylogenetic analyses based on ITS rDNA, IGS rDNA and rpb2 were carried out to confirm the identity of C. magyarica in Bulgaria. Additionally, ITS rDNA of other species was also sequenced to confirm the identifications. A new key to all the Cladoniaceae taxa known from Bulgaria is included.

Eine Studie der Cladoniaceae, beruhend auf neuen Aufsammlungen von 61 Lokalitäten, wurde in Bulgarien durchgeführt. 35 Arten (34 Cladonien und eine Pycnothelia) wurden gefunden, davon sind 7 neu für Bulgarien: Cladonia asahinae, C. conista, C. cyathomorpha, C. diversa, C. magyarica, C. novochlorophaea und C. peziziformis. Damit steigt die Zahl der aus Bulgarien bekannten Cladoniaceae auf 55, zu den zwei Genera Cladonia und Pycnothelia gehörig. Unsere Studie erlaubt eine genauere Übersicht über Verbreitung und chemische Variation der Arten. Für C. rangiformis wird ein neuer Chemotyp beschrieben, enthaltend Atranorin, Fumarprotocetrarsäure, Psoromsäure, Rangiformsäure und Norrangiformsäure. Er ist seltener als die beiden anderen Chemotypen der Art. Phylogenetische Analysen, beruhend auf ITS rDNA, IGS rDNA and rpb2 wurden zur Absicherung der Identität von Cladonia magyarica in Bulgarien ausgeführt. Darüber hinaus wurde auch für andere Arten ITS rDNA zur Bestätigung von Artansprachen sequenziert. Ein Bestimmungsschlüssel für alle aus Bulgarien bekannten Cladoniaceae ist beigefügt.

A field trip was carried out in summer 2017 with emphasis on mountain peak sites in six mountain ranges of North Macedonia: Kajmakčalan, Korab, Kožuf, Mokra Planina, Pelister, and Šar Planina. The fieldwork resulted in an output of c. 1200 samples. 419 taxa were identified, including 123 lichens, 17 lichenicolous fungi, and one non-lichenized fungus that are all new for the country. Sixteen lichens are new for the Balkan Peninsula: Allocetraria madreporiformis, Aspicilia supertegens, Caloplaca tetraspora, Epilichen scabrosus, Euopsis pulvinata, Kiliasia nordlandica, Koerberiella wimmeriana, Lecanora viridiatra, Lecidea speirodes, Miriquidica atrofulva, Placynthium dolichoterum, Protoblastenia aurata, P. terricola, Pyrenopsis sanguinea, Sporodictyon cruentum, Verrucaria transfugiens, and three lichenicolous fungi: Arthonia circinata, A. stereocaulina and Cercidospora melanophthalmae. An updated bibliography is presented.

The lichen flora of Morocco has been the subject of two relatively recent checklists; that of Egea published in 1996 included 1,100 taxa, which was increased to 1,211 in 2013 by Ajaj and his collaborators. As a result of recent fieldwork, a detailed survey of herbarium catalogues, and the significant number of changes in nomenclature that have occurred since these two publications, an updated checklist consisting of 1287 taxa (1237 lichens and 50 lichenicolous and allied fungi) was necessary.

Die Flechtenflora von Marokko war Gegenstand zweier relativ neuzeitlicher Checklisten; jene von Egea, im Jahre 1996 veröffentlicht, enthielt 1.100 Taxa, was im Jahre 2013 durch Ajaj und Mitarbeiter auf 1.211 erhöht wurde. Als Ergebnis neuerer Geländearbeiten, detaillierten Studiums von Herbariumskatalogen und der signifikanten Zahl nomenklatorischer Veränderungen seit diesen zwei Veröffentlichungen wurde ein akzualisierte Checkliste nötig, die 1.287 Taxa (1.237 Flechten und 50 lichenicole und assoziierte Pilze) enthält.

Buellia densipruinosa from the Himalayan moist temperate forest in Pakistan is described as new to science. nrITS sequences confirm its position within the genus Buellia and, together with its morphology and chemistry, suggest its distinction from other species of this genus. The taxon is characterized by a gray to grayish black thallus, plane to slightly concave apothecia, 1.5 –3 mm wide with a pruinose disc, a hymenium 90 –150 µm high, 1-septate ascospores, 7.3–12 × 3–4.5 µm, and by presence of 2′-O-methylperlatolic acid and atranorin as the major substances.

Buellia densipruinosa aus dem feuchten gemäßigten Himalaya-Wald in Pakistan wird als neu für die Wissenschaft beschrieben. nrITS-Sequenzen bestätigen ihre Position innerhalb der Gattung Buellia und legen zusammen mit Morphologie und Chemie ihre Eigenständigkeit nahe. Das Taxon ist gekennzeichnet durch einen grauen bis grauschwarzen Thallus, ebene bis leicht konkave Apothezien von 1,5 –3 mm Breite mit einer bereiften Scheibe, ein Hymenium von 90 –150 µm Höhe, 1-septierte Ascosporen von 7,3–12 × 3–4,5 µm und durch Vorhandensein von 2′-O-Methylperlatolsäure und Atranorin als Hauptsubstanzen.

Seven species of corticolous and foliicolous lichens are recorded for the first time for Thailand. Four species are new to Asia: Acanthotrema brasilianum, Cruentotrema amazonum, Microtheliopsis uniseptata, and Ocellularia petrinensis. Asteristion cupulare is new to Southeast Asia, whereas Fellhanera semecarpi and Phylloblastia mucronata are new to Thailand. The genera Acanthotrema and Phylloblastia have not previously been reported from Thailand. The total number of lichen species known from Thailand is now 1,410. The main diagnostic characters and distributions of the new records are discussed and illustrations provided.

Sieben Arten von corticolen und foliicolen Flechten werden erstmals für Thailand nachgewiesen. Dazu gehören vier Arten, die erstmals für Asien nachgewiesen werden: Acanthotrema brasilianum, Cruentotrema amazonum, Microtheliopsis uniseptata und Ocellularia petrinensis; eine Art ist neu für Südostasien: Asteristion cupulare; zwei Arten sind neu für Thailand: Fellhanera semecarpi und Phylloblastia mucronata. Die Gattungen Acanthotrema und Phylloblastia sind bisher nicht aus Thailand bekannt gewesen. Die Gesamtzahl der aus Thailand bekannten Flechtenarten liegt derzeit bei 1410. Die wichtigsten diagnostischen Merkmale und Verbreitungsangaben der Neufunde werden diskutiert und die Arten illustriert.

We report 18 species in the genera Amandinea, Buellia, Orcularia and Rinodina, recorded from several areas in the Neotropics, including Bonaire, Curaçao and Saint Lucia in the Caribbean and Ecuador from continental South America. The new combination Amandinea yaucoensis (Vain.) Elix & van den Boom is proposed.

Wir berichten über 18 Arten der Gattungen Amandinea, Buellia, Orcularia und Rinodina, die aus mehreren Gebieten in den Neotropen erfasst wurden, darunter Bonaire, Curaçao und St. Lucia in der Karibik und Ecuador aus dem kontinentalen Südamerika. Die neue Kombination Amandinea yaucoensis (Vain.) Elix & van den Boom wird vorgeschlagen.

Es werden die lichenicolen Pilze Didymocyrtis menegazziae sp. nov., Opegrapha menegazziae sp. nov., Pronectria menegazziae sp. nov. auf den Flechten Menegazzia terebrata und M. subsimilis beschrieben, weiters Stigmidium menegazziae ad int. skizziert und ein Schlüssel für alle in Europa auf diesen Wirten nachgewiesenen Arten vorgelegt.

Didymocyrtis menegazziae sp. nov., Opegrapha menegazziae sp. nov., Pronectria menegazziae sp. nov., lichenicolous on Menegazzia terebrata and M. subsimilis are described as new; additionally, Stigmidium menegazziae ad int. is sketched. A key to all known lichenicolous taxa on Menegazzia in Europe is presented.

Zhurbenko, M. P. 2022. Endococcus grumantianus sp. nov. (Ascomycota, Verrucariales) from Svalbard, with a key to Endococcus species growing on terricolous lichens. – Herzogia 35: 656 – 663.

Endococcus grumantianus, a pyrenomycete growing on the lichen Steinia geophana as part of the soil crust, next to cyanobacteria, is described as new to science from the arctic tundra of Svalbard. The species is characterized by well-developed periphysoids, and verruculose, mainly heteropolar, relatively large ascospores, (14–)16–21(–27.5) × (6–)7.5–9.5(–11) µm, usually with one, but occasionally with 2–3 septa, which is an exception in this genus. A key for 14 Endococcus species growing on terricolous lichens is provided.

Der Pyrenomycet Endococcus grumantianus wächst in Nachbarschaft zu Cyanobakterien auf der Flechte Steinia geophana, die einen Bestandteil der Bodenkrusten (soil crusts) in der arktischen Tundra von Spitzbergen darstellt. Die hier neu beschriebene Art ist charakterisiert durch gut entwickelte Periphysoide sowie durch warzige, vorwiegend heteropolare, ziemlich große Ascosporen, (14–)16–21(–27.5) × (6–)7,5–9,5(–11) µm, mit einem, daneben aber auch mit 2–3 Septen, was für die Gattung ungewöhnlich ist. Ein Schlüssel für die 14 auf bodenbewohnenden Flechten lebenden Endococcus-Arten wird vorgestellt.

Recent bryological investigation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is considered scarce, although bryophyte records seem to have long history. Here we report seven moss species as new to the country. Two of the recorded species are endemic to Europe, namely Homalothecium meridionale and Tortella fasciculata.

Es gibt nur wenige neuere bryologische Untersuchungen in Bosnien und Herzegowina, obwohl die bryofloristische Erforschung des Landes eine lange Historie hat. Wir melden hiermit sieben Moosarten als neu für das Land. Zwei der erfassten Arten sind in Europa endemisch, Homalothecium meridionale und Tortella fasciculata.

Rhytidiadelphus subpinnatus (Hylocomiaceae) is a circumpolar boreal-montane moss associated with various natural habitats, mainly wetlands. Here, we report its first finding for Georgia (South Caucasus). The species has been only rarely reported for the Caucasus so far. It was newly discovered in the glacial valley of the Abudelauri River in the Eastern Greater Caucasus. Rhytidiadelphus subpinnatus was scattered in transitional mire vegetation dominated by Sphagnum girgensohnii and accompanied by vascular plants characteristic of this vegetation such as Carex rostrata, Eriophorum angustifolium, and Swertia iberica.

Rhytidiadelphus subpinnatus (Hylocomiaceae) ist ein zirkumpolares, boreal-montanes Laubmoos, das mit zahlreichen natürlichen Standorten, überwiegend Feuchtgebiete, assoziiert ist. Es wird im Folgenden erstmals aus Georgien (Süd-Kaukasus) nachgewiesen und ist auch sonst kaum aus dem Kaukasus bekannt. Der Fundort liegt im östlichen Großen Kaukasus, in einem glazialen Tal, das vom Fluss Abudelauri durchflossen wird. Rhytidiadelphus subpinnatus wächst zerstreut in einem Zwischenmoor, das von Sphagnum girgensohnii und charakteristischen Begleitarten dieses Vegetationstyps wie Carex rostrata, Eriophorum angustifolium und Swertia iberica dominiert wird.

Usnea stipitata (lichenized Ascomycota, Parmeliaceae) is here recorded to continental Africa from Tunisia for the first time. Notes on its habitat, ecology, distribution and conservation status in Tunisia are given. Original photographs together with a key of main distinguishing features of the two species of the Usnea cornuta aggregate known from North Africa are also provided.
