Pabstiella pseudotrifida L. Kollmann & D. R. Couto (Orchidaceae), a new species from the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil, is described, illustrated, and compared with Pabstiella trifida (Lindl.) Luer, a morphologically similar species.

This article analyzes partial data published in the “Flora Corsica” in order to characterize the Corsican vascular flora. These analyses focus on different aspects of the flora such as species richness, taxonomic distribution, abundance and life-forms at different vegetation belts, habitats and substrates. The results are compared with other geographic regions, particularly from the European Mediterranean and adjacent areas. The decrease of species richness with an increase of altitude as well as the sharp decrease of Fabaceae has been confirmed. Regarding the biological spectrum, the decrease of the therophytes with an increase of altitude is obvious and compensated by the increase of the hemicryptophytes. On Corsica several peculiarities have been highlighted in the different ecological compartments: 1. the littoral and the cryo-oromediterranean belts appear to be very different from the others in many features; 2. the rocky habitats are shown to be especially important for the diversity of families such as Poaceae and Caryophyllaceae; 3. calcareous areas are shown to be extremely important for the alpha diversity as well as for the restricted range taxa. Finally, the specificity of the flora growing on the ultramafic outcrops is confirmed and emphazised.
DANIEL, T. F. (2014). Taxonomy of Anisotes Nees (Acanthaceae: Justicieae) in the Comoros Archipelago and a preliminary list of Acanthaceae in the Islands. Candollea 69: 45–54. In English, English and French abstracts.
A new species and a new combination in Anisotes Nees are proposed for the acanthaceous flora of the Comoros Archipelago. The new species, Anisotes mayottensis T. F. Daniel, is known only from Mayotte, and can be distinguished from its Comoran congener by its unequally five-lobed (4+1) or equally four-lobed calyx; longer corolla, stamens, and thecae; and fouraperturate pollen. Anisotes comorensis (Lindau) T. F. Daniel, based on Himantochilus comorensis Lindau, is proposed for a species endemic to Grande Comore. A lectotype is designated for Himantochilus comorensis. Both species are described, mapped, and distinguished by a key; Anisotes mayottensis is also illustrated. All Acanthaceae known from the archipelago are listed in a table.

The name Inula montana L. (Asteraceae) is lecto- and epitypified. The designated lectotype corresponds to an icon from Robert Morison published in 1699 and the epitype to a plant specimen collected by Morison and conserved at OXF (Morisonian Herbarium).

The first complete taxonomic account of the genus Bombycilaena (DC.) Smoljan. based on the revision of more than 2000 sheets deposited in 28 herbaria is here presented. A detailed description of the genus and a key for the two species therein included are provided, as well as descriptions, habitat preferences, phenology, and geographic distribution. The typification of the name Bombycilaena erecta (L.) Smoljan. is assessed and a neotype is designated for the accepted name Bombycilaena discolor (Pers.) M. Laínz.
Callmander, M. W., I. Luino, S. Da-Giau, C. Rakotovao & L. Gautier (2014). A synoptic revision of the Malagasy endemic genus Socratina Balle (Loranthaceae). Candollea 69: 65–73. In English, English and French abstracts.
The hemiparasitic endemic genus Socratina Balle (Loranthaceae) is revised for Madagascar. Three species are recognized, including a new one, Socratina phillipsoniana Callm. & Luino. The vegetative and floral morphology of the new species is distinctive; in particular the conspicuous longitudinal villous fringe of long dendritic trichomes on the outer surface of its corolla along each suture of the lobes that contrasts with the shorter floccose indument that covers the rest of the outer corolla surface. All three known species are provided with preliminary risk assessments based on the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria. A key to the genus is presented and a discussion of the morphological affinities of each species is also provided.

Aloe gautieri J.-P. Castillon & Nusb. (Xanthorrhoeaceae, Asphodeloideae), a new species from the northeastern coast of Madagascar is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically closely related to Aloe fragilis Lavranos & Röösli but differs in having paler flowers, more elongated racemes, ungrouped cauline leaves forming no compact rosette. The distribution, ecology and conservation status of the new species are presented along with a line drawing and colour pictures.
Callmander, M. W., E. A. Tripp & P. B. Phillipson (2014). A new name in Ruellia L. (Acanthaceae) for Madagascar. Candollea 69: 81–83. In English, English and French abstracts.
Recent molecular phylogenetic studies showed that the endemic Malagasy Eusiphon Benoist is nested within Ruellia L. (Acanthaceae). The authors here propose a new name to replace an illegitimate later homonym for Eusiphon longissimum Benoist: Ruellia quartziticola Callm., E. Tripp & Phillipson. This striking species is rare in the wild and endemic to the quartzite veins of the Highlands of Madagascar. Following IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria, Ruellia quartziticola is considered to be “ Critically Endangered”.

Madagascar's fragile ecosystems are vulnerable to invasive plants but accounting for these in a poorly known and undercollected group is challenging due to an insufficient knowledge base. We record three species of grasses (Poaceae) new to Madagascar. Ehrharta stipoides Labill. is a potentially dangerous introduction due to its invasiveness in frequently burned ecosystems. Enteropogon prieurii (Kunth) Clayton is not recorded as invasive but is frequently misidentified due to its similarity to Chloris virgata Sw. The new record of Vulpia myuros (L.) C. C. Gmel. is from a collection made 50 years ago.

A new species, Primulina dongguanica F. Wen, Y. G. Wei & R. Q. Luo (Gesneriaceae) is described and illustrated from Dongguan city, Guangdong province, S China. The species grows in crevices of granite within subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests or shrubby vegetation in the Yinpingzui nature reserve. Primulina dongguanica differs from other species in the genus occurring in Guangdong province, China. Despite sharing some morphologically characters with Primulina eburnea (Hance) Y. Z. Wang, Primulina dryas (Dunn) Mich. Möller & A. Weber, Primulina napoensis (Z. Y. Li) Mich. Möller & A. Weber and Primulina spec. nov., several features allow its recognition. It is an endemic species confined to the Yinpingzui nature reserve. Its conservation status is also presented.

To facilitate an ongoing taxonomic revision of Pseudobombax Dugand as part of studies on the systematics of Neotropical Bombacoideae (Malvaceae), we clarify the typification of 16 names in Bombacoideae that were published by Emil Hassler and Robert Chodat based mostly on specimens collected by Hassler in Paraguay and collected by Robert Fries and Gustaf Malme in Argentina and Brazil. We designate 4 lectotypes for the following names: Bombax elegans R. E. Fr., Bombax longiflorum var. emarginatum Hassl., Bombax marginatum subsp. meridionale Hassl., Bombax marginatum var. praecox Hassl. An epitype is designated for Bombax elegans R. E. Fr. In addition, we narrow down André Robyns' lectotypification of Bombax marginatum f. arboreum Chodat to a single specimen.
