Abstract

The green branched filamentous alga Spongioplastidium proliferum Vischer is reported for the first time in North America. Spongioplastidium proliferum was collected from ponds in Douglas and Neosho Counties, Kansas. Subsequently it was isolated and placed into culture. Zoospore production is detailed for the first time.
