Hogna coloradensis (Banks 1894) (Araneae, Lycosidae) is redescribed. Banks' original description from 1894 made identification difficult. Internal and external genitalia of both sexes are herein described and illustrated. The spider is found east of the Rocky Mountains from Wyoming south to Mexico. It constructs shallow, straight burrows that it sometimes closes with small rocks and debris. Lycosa evagra Chamberlin 1925 is synonymized with H. coloradensis.
