Hypothyce mixta Howden, 1968 is endemic to sandy soils in east Texas, USA. Female H. mixta are not known to fly, raising the question of possible cryptic speciation due to lack of gene flow among geographically separated populations. There has been speculation that H. mixta is a taxonomically unrecognized cryptic species complex in which highly endemic populations have undergone sufficient genetic divergence over time to justify their recognition as separate species. The basis for this hypothesis was rooted in unpublished work on the mitochondrial CO1 gene that showed reciprocal monophyly among geographically distinct populations. A phylogenetic analysis of the nuclear gene 28S showed there is enough gene flow occurring between populations to maintain the singular species representation of H. mixta. However, there are distinct, minor morphological differences among populations, suggesting that this gene flow may be limited and that populations are diverging.

This paper deals with the genus Kurosawaxia Descarpentries, 1986 and its type species, Kurosawaxia iris Descarpentries, 1986. Based on a comprehensive review of the literature, both the genus and its type species are identified as new country records for the Chinese fauna. The female terminalia and geographical variation of the newly collected specimen are described as supplemental data for the species. Comments on prior descriptions of the taxon are provided, and the status of the genus is discussed.

The Nearctic species of Salpinginae have not been reviewed for the last 92 years. Inconsistent worldwide treatments of salpingine genera and discordant classification schemes between Nearctic and Palearctic workers have created excessive taxonomic and nomenclatural confusion. We here revise the species from the Nearctic region by leveraging publicly available DNA barcoding data paired with examination of morphological features. We recognize three valid species and propose the following synonymies: Sphaeriestes virescens LeConte, 1850 (= Salpingus alternatus LeConte, 1859, Salpingus tibialis LeConte, 1866, Salpingus piscatorum Seidlitz, 1916, new synonyms); Salpingus viridiaeneus (Randall, 1838), restored combination (= Rhinomacer pallipes Boheman, 1858, synonym reinstated); and Salpingus elongatus Mannerheim, 1852, restored combination (= Rhinosimus (Cariderus) lecontei Blair, 1932, Rhinosimus (Cariderus) brachyrhynchus Hatch, 1965, new synonyms). Species treatments and an identification key are provided along with remarks on remaining worldwide classification issues.

The Acanthoscelides oblongoguttatus group of Acanthoscelides Schilsky is composed of two species that are often collected together associated with ant-acacias in the genus Vachellia Wight & Arn. (Fabaceae). Acanthoscelides oblongoguttatus (Fåhraeus) was described first and was redescribed in a modern revision of the genus. However, the redescription was based on a second, undescribed species and did not conform to the original description. When a second species, Acanthoscelides sauli Romero, Cruz, and Kingsolver, was described, it was instead a redescription of A. oblongoguttatus. To rectify this situation, A. sauli is here proposed as a junior synonym of A. oblongoguttatus, new synonymy, a lectotype is designated for A. oblongoguttatus, and Acanthoscelides sanchezsotoi Morse, new species is described.

Cynegetis impunctata (Linnaeus, 1767) is a Palearctic lady beetle that feeds on various broad-leaved grasses (Poaceae). Due to the reduction of hind wings, it has limited dispersal abilities and occurs very locally. Here we report on two new localities for this species in Poland and review all available data on its distribution in the country. We also briefly discuss its global range and ecology. The known distribution of C. impunctata in Poland is markedly uneven, with many records in the western half of the country and very few in the eastern half. One of the new localities reported in this study, Rowy (Baltic Coast), lies in the western part of the beetle's occurrence, while the other reported site, Warsaw (Mazovian Lowland), belongs to the eastern part and is the third-easternmost locality for C. impunctata in Poland. At the Warsaw site, C. impunctata was found to be abundant in a grassy habitat along a regulated stream.

Trachyota Casey, 1906 is synonymized with Drusilla Leach, 1819, new synonym based on overall morphological similarity, resulting in the transfer of the two described species of Trachyota to Drusilla. This revision brings the total number of recognized North American Drusilla species to five, including four native species: Drusilla ashei Eldredge, 2012; Drusilla nearctica Eldredge, 2012; Drusilla cavipennis (LeConte, 1866), new combination; and Drusilla lativentris (Casey, 1906), new combination, as well as one adventive, widely distributed species, Drusilla canaliculata (Fabricius, 1787). A lectotype is designated for Falagria cavipennis LeConte, 1866, which is redescribed based on the lectotype. An updated key to North American species of Drusilla and genera of “Lomechusini” is provided.

A new species of Longitarsus Latreille, 1829, Longitarsus cohongorooto Konstantinov, new species, with the type locality of Plummers Island, Montgomery Co., Maryland, USA is described. It is illustrated and compared to dark-colored Longitarsus species known to occur in the eastern United States. A key for species identification is proposed. Mertensia (Boraginaceae) is reported as the host plant for flea beetles (Alticini) for the first time. Variability of female genitalic characters is illustrated. The lectotype of Longitarsus traductus Horn, 1889 is designated.

Synetocephalus Fall, 1910 is reviewed and five new species are described: Synetocephalus purshiae Gilbert and Clark, new species; Synetocephalus sagei Gilbert and Clark, new species; Synetocephalus strongi Gilbert and Clark, new species; Synetocephalus variabilis Gilbert and Clark, new species; and Synetocephalus wilcoxi Gilbert and Clark, new species. Synetocephalus is limited to the western United States and the state of Baja California, Mexico. All known species are illustrated, and a key to species is presented.

We determined the diel locomotor activity of the generalist florivore Valgus canaliculatus (Olivier, 1789) under controlled 12:12 h light-dark conditions. Males exhibited a diurnal activity pattern, with peak activity in mid-photophase and inactivity during scotophase. These findings indicate that photic cues alone stimulate a rhythmic, diurnal activity pattern, which likely helps these beetles better coordinate activity with resource availability to maximize foraging and dispersal strategies.

Carpophilus (Ecnomorphus) krishnae Dasgupta, Pal, and Powell, new species is described from the Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India. The species is compared with putatively related species and illustrated. An updated key to the species of Carpophilus Stephens from northeastern India is provided.

Two fermenting bait types of sweet red wine and a mixture of beer/molasses/water, and two trap types, were assessed as to how they influenced the abundance and diversity of longhorned beetles caught in woodlands of Iowa, Missouri, and the Florida Keys, USA. Traps of two sizes, 3.8 L (Iowa bucket) or 2 L (Missouri bucket) in size, were predominantly used to trap beetles. Baits were evaluated for five years in Iowa, four years in Missouri, and in a short duration study in Florida. Clear plastic bottles, 3 L and 2 L, were also evaluated during one-year studies. The baited traps captured 3,969 beetles of 60 species in the Cerambycidae subfamilies Cerambycinae, Lamiinae, Lepturinae, Parandrinae, and Prioninae, and one species in the family Disteniidae. The two species caught in the largest numbers were the cerambycines Elaphidion mucronatum (Say) and Eburia quadrigeminata (Say), representing 69.1% and 69.0% of all beetles collected in Iowa and Missouri, respectively. In Iowa, 19 of the 39 species encountered were collected in numbers sufficient for analysis, 13 of which were significantly more attracted to sweet red wine bait than the beer/molasses/water bait. In the Missouri experiments, 13 of the 27 species encountered were collected in numbers sufficient for analysis. Only one of these was significantly more attracted to sweet red wine bait than the beer/molasses/water bait, while three species were significantly more attracted to the beer/ molasses/water bait. Our findings indicate that both sweet red wine and beer/molasses/water can be highly attractive baits for certain species of longhorned beetles.

During the latter half of the 19th century, various authors addressed the family-level placement of the New World genus Dupontiella Spinola, 1845, which possesses adult morphological characters indicating either Cleridae or Trogossitidae. After finally being placed in the latter family, the genus has received little analysis presumably due to unknown type repositories and a lack of additional museum specimens. With the recent discovery of museum specimens aligning with Dupontiella but differing in key respects, a historical review of the genus is presented. As a result, Dupontiella quechucha Kippenhan, new species, based on three specimens collected in Ecuador, and Dupontiella unomas Kippenhan, new species, based on three specimens collected in Colombia, are described and figured. The provisional placement of the new taxa in Dupontiella is discussed.
