*Sandy McLachlan, is currently a PhD student at the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (SEOS), University of Victoria where he also obtained his MSc in invertebrate paleontology and micropaleontology. His research interests include: taxonomy, phylogeny, and biostratigraphy of Late Cretaceous ammonites; taxonomy and biostratigraphic applications of Cretaceous–Paleogene dinoflagellate cysts; and paleoenvironmental reconstructions and paleoecology of Cretaceous–Paleogene marine settings using palynological assemblages.
**Vera Pospelova is a professor at the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (SEOS), University of Victoria. She received her Honours BSc and MSc equivalents from Novosibirsk University (Russia) and her PhD from McGill University (Canada). Her research interests include: taxonomy of late Quaternary dinoflagellate cysts; cyst production, ecology and seasonal dynamics in coastal waters; applications of dinoflagellate cysts as indicators of water quality conditions, with an emphasis on pollution and eutrophication in North American estuaries; and palaeoceanographic reconstructions using sedimentary archives.
***Richard Hebda is Curator of Botany and Earth History (emeritus) at the Royal British Columbia Museum and an adjunct faculty member of the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (SEOS), University of Victoria. He received his PhD in botany from the University of British Columbia. His research interests include: Pleistocene palaeoecology, especially vegetation and climate history of BC; glacial refugia; climate change and its impacts; ecology and origins of alpine ecosystems and flora; and botany of grasses.
