PECAN NUT CASEBEARER: USE OF BLACKLIGHT TRAPS AND OTHER METHODS FOR DETERMINING MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
Editor(s): Jerry A. Payne
Chapter Author(s): V. R. Calcote
Print Publication Date: 1983
Abstract

Pest management of the pecan nut casebearer, Acrobasis nuxvorella Neunzig, was studied with major emphasis on the most prudent use of insecticides by determining if an insecticide is needed, and if so, the optimum time to apply it. Seasonal trends, sex ratios, economic thresholds, and the influence of weather or moth activity are discussed. Moth capture from light traps paralleled moth emergence from cardboard limb bands, and essentially, the same procedure used to time sprays with bands is applicable to light traps.
